Artist statement
The work I produce, in a reductive, abstract style, involves four primary areas of investigation: Systems (series and structures), Perception (transparency and visual ambiguity), Relativity (cognition and context), and Time (linear progression and layering). These areas are reflected in the diverse array of genre in which I work, including installation, sculpture, drawing, photography, and digital media.
While all of the means and approaches I take are changing and shifting significantly, the same line of concerns remains my defining interest. I work in a process-oriented technique, which fluctuates between three-dimensional objects and flat surfaces, and explores various combinations of form, texture, space, and movement. My quest for new materials and tools of expression provides me with different angles, shifting focuses, and recontextualizing positions.
